Advertising sells. Art serves no specific purpose.
In an age of information abundance and “summarize” buttons, documentary film, editorial photography, design and text collect, analyze and present information in ways only humans can — through tasteful curation, emotion, storytelling and personal conviction.
Human-led editorial doesn’t just inform; it interprets, opines, and offers new insights with appropriate context that algorithms can’t replicate. Only intriguing, pertinent, consistent and multichannel communication reaches through the info-saturation to captivate the rarefied attention towards current events, trends, issues, people, destinations, industries, hobbies and other subjects.
I started as an editorial photographer 27 years ago. I have since widened my spectrum to include graphic design and written journalism, telling stories with images, design, and words.
In 2011, I merged all of my skills into documentary cinema, adding fiction techniques that still resonate today. How do I know? Audiences continue watching my films from 13 years ago, alongside my newer work.
I also enjoy co-creation with gifted producers, writers, designers, photographers and musicians. Working together on an article, a documentary series, and anything in between, my focus can shift to a single role — direction, photography, design, or text — allowing me to contribute to a creative solution in a way that complements the talents of others.
