Nestlé headquarters in Vevey, the Chambord staricase

The world headquarters of Nestlé occupy, in Vevey, one of the most remarkable administrative buildings of French-speaking Switzerland. Completed in 1960, this major work of the architect Jean TSCHUMI was extended in 1975 by the architects BURCKHARDT and BRUGGER, which doubled its capacity.<br /><br />35 years later, the obsolescence of the equipment as well as the evolution of the functional and technical requirements led to the in-depth restoration of the original building of Jean TSCHUMI. This step led to a more in-depth intervention, aiming at reinforcing the unit and the coherence of the Center, with an aim of providing the workers of Nestlé a more open, transparent and efficient working environment. In this operation, the architects Richter and Dahl ROCHA had to combine various levels of intervention, from restoration to the creation of new elements, in a deep respect for the spirit of the architecture of Jean TSCHUMI.<br /><br />A classified monument of Canton de Vaud, the building features a contemporary architecture staircase by Jean TSCHUMI mimicked after Leonardo da VINCI staircase of the French castle of Chambord.
